A Fence Is Only as Steady as Its Posts
Most fence problems start at the ground, so that is where a good installation starts too. Posts are set plumb and deep, a common guideline is to bury about one-third of the post’s length, and they are set in compacted gravel for drainage or in concrete for extra strength, depending on the soil, fence height and style. Pressure-treated lumber rated for ground contact lasts longer in the soil, and leaving a small gap between the boards and the ground helps keep them dry.
What Your New Fence Includes
- Layout along the agreed fence line
- Posts set plumb and solid
- Rails and privacy boards installed straight and evenly spaced
- Gates built and hung to swing and latch properly
- Optional cap-and-trim details for a finished look
- Cleanup and haul-away of debris
Before We Build: Property Lines and HOA Rules
Confirm where your property line runs before a new fence goes in; if you are not sure, a survey settles it. Some cities and HOAs also set rules on height, style and materials, and a new fence may need approval. Check with your HOA or local office and tell us about any rules so the fence fits them. This is general information, not legal advice.
How Your Fence Project Works
- Tell us about your yard. Call, text or send a message with your address, the length of fence you have in mind and any gates you need.
- Understand your options. We walk the line, discuss style and materials and give you a free written estimate. No pressure.
- Make room for better. With the scope, materials and price agreed in writing, we build the fence and clean up.
Protect the Wood
Staining or sealing a new wood fence helps it stand up to sun and moisture. We offer wood fence staining and painting, and can include it in your estimate.
